Riverdale man arrested in 2012 slaying

The Cook County sheriff’s office says a 27-year-old Riverdale resident has been arrested in the 2012 shooting death of an Indiana man.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office says Cleotha Watson was arrested at his home late last week after investigators received a tip he was there.

Watson was wanted in the Aug. 17, 2012, shooting death of Preston Strong of Gary, Ind. A $1 million arrest warrant was issued the next month.

The department says Watson appeared in bond court, where his bail was set at $1 million on a charge of first-degree murder and $100,000 on an unrelated drunken driving charge.

He is scheduled to return in court on Tuesday.
