Forest Lake Run for the Troops to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Lake Zurich residents Elina Klippel and Megan McDowell are organizing the 2nd annual Forest Lake Run for the Troops.

This 5K Run/1K Family Walk gives 100% of the proceeds back to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that raises awareness and funds for the needs of injured service members.

The Wounded Warrior Project's Mission is to help injured service members aid and assist each other as well as providing unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

The race will take place at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 4, beginning at the Community Center 23489 N. East Road in Lake Zurich.

There will be a flag ceremony, DJ and kids activities during the race.
