Des Plaines Police Explorer Post No. 142 to host car wash

Des Plaines Police Explorer Post No. 142 and the Des Plaines Car Wash, 513 S. River Road, invite you to have your car washed between the hours of 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23.

All proceeds from the Car Wash will be contributed to the Police Explorer Post’s efforts to attend this year’s Illinois State Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Springfield.

The Des Plaines Police Explorer Post is a program that provides youth, ages 14 to 21, an opportunity to participate in a positive, goal oriented program and develop leadership and interpersonal skills while providing an understanding of law enforcement. The program promotes positive behavioral role models, excellence in academics, participation in community service projects and good family values.

Each year Police Explorers participate in State and National conferences. These conferences allow Explorers to demonstrate the skills they learn in a law enforcement role playing environment while earning trophies for their accomplishments. Many of the Explorers use the skills they acquire to go on to become active members of the law enforcement community.

An alternate date of Saturday, June 30, has been selected for the car wash should the weather not cooperate June 23.

For information, call Des Plaines Police Officer Michael Heidkamp at the Des Plaines Police Department at (847) 391-5400.
