Wheeling man charged with sexual assault

A Wheeling man faces charges that he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy in 2011, according to Cook County prosecutors.
A judge set bail at $350,000 Wednesday for Onetsed Ruiz, 24, who Assistant State’s Attorney Maureen McGee said is currently on bond for a misdemeanor battery charge.
McGee said Ruiz and his accuser went for a bike ride in June 2011 to a wooded area where they smoked cannabis and drank alcohol, after which Ruiz sexually assaulted the boy.
The boy recently told his mother about the assault, McGee said.
If convicted, Ruiz faces six to 30 years in prison. He next appears in court July 12.
