Exchange old flags for new in Mundelein

Residents of District 51 wishing to turn in an old United States flag and exchange it for a new one may bring their used flag to the district office of state Rep. Ed Sullivan (R-Mundelein) through July 1.

Sullivan is sponsoring the U.S. Flag Exchange Program through his district office for the sixth year in a row as a way to provide residents of the 51st district with the ability to properly dispose of their old flags and to obtain a new U.S. flag to display or keep at their home or office. The program is free while supplies last to the constituents of the 51st legislative district.

“Summer time is a great season to display a flag outside your home or business as a way to express your pride in being an American, to show support for our troops serving overseas, and to show respect to those active duty military personnel or retired veterans here at home who have served our country,” Sullivan said. “I hope local residents of the 51st legislative district take advantage of this opportunity to drop off their old flags at my office and pick up a new one.”

Rep. Sullivan’s district office is located at 700 N. Lake St., Suite 101, Mundelein. Those interested in the program can also contact Legislative Aide Jean Smuda at (847) 566-5115.
