Lucas Orthodontics presents Teacher of the Year Award

Each year Lucas Orthodontics of Buffalo Grove encourages patients to write an essay regarding their favorite teacher and how this teacher influences them to become a better student.

“This is one of our most popular contests”, says Dr. Kevin Lucas. “We receive over 50 entries from patients each year”.

Debra Oltman, third- and fourth-grade teacher at Hunting Ridge Elementary in Palatine, was chosen as Teacher of the Year because of her dedication to her students.

Griffin Drucker, age 10, of Palatine, wrote about how his teacher, Mrs. Oltman, has made school enjoyable and how much she means to him.

“She really makes school fun, even though she says we are not supposed to have fun”, said Drucker.

On Wednesday, May 28, Dr. Kevin Lucas and staff visited Hunting Ridge Elementary School to present the award to Mrs. Oltman in front of her fourth-grade class. She and her students were very excited.

For his winning essay, Drucker received a gift certificate to a store of his choice.
