CeaseFire severing ties with executive director after arrest
The anti-violence organization CeaseFire says it will not renew the contract of its executive director, who was charged with domestic violence for, authorities allege, punching and kicking his wife.
Tio Hardiman has said he is innocent of the misdemeanor charge, adding he’s been with his wife for 13 years without any domestic violence problem.
However, the organization placed Hardiman on administrative leave. It announced Monday his contract will not be renewed on June 30, and Hardiman no longer serves as a representative of CeaseFire, its parent organization Cure Violence, or the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health.
National Director of Training and Technical Assistance at Cure Violence Jalon Arthur was named acting director of CeaseFire.
Hardiman says he doesn’t appreciate CeaseFire’s leadership not standing with him.
