Steel Beam Theatre offers girls summer acting camps

Submitted by Steel Beam Theatre

Steel Beam Theatre, in partnership with Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, is offering summer camps for girls beginning in June. The theater has been offering programs for Girl Scouts since its inception in 2001.

These new camps encompass the recently restructured scouting program: voice, movement and teamwork. Through fun games, the camp allows girls to create a play all their own. Each camp will end with a performance for family and friends at the Steel Beam Theatre’s main stage, 111 W. Main St., St. Charles. Girls do not need to be Scouts in order to participate.

The following camps will be offered this summer: The Girl Scouts Daisy Acting Camp will have the theme, “ABRACADABRA … My Garden Grow!” The girls will spend a week exploring their connection to the world and the animals in it. It is an introduction to young ones with little or no acting experience. It will be held 10 a.m. until noon June 10 through 14, with a 4 p.m. performance June 15.

The Girls Scouts Brownie Acting Camp will have the theme, “Girl Power! Super Power!” The girls will spend a week exploring their connection to each other, their friendships and their super powers within. The camp will be held 10 a.m. until noon July 15 through 19, with a 4 p.m. performance July 20.

The Girl Scouts Junior Acting Camp will have the theme, “Starring Role!” The girls will spend a week exploring the various “roles” you play in life and in support of one another — with a touch of Hollywood glamour. The camp will be held 10 a.m. until noon July 29 through Aug. 2, with a 4 p.m. performance Aug. 3.

Cost is $150 per camp. The instructor will be Lori Holm. To register or for details, visit www.SteelBeamtheatre.com or call (630) 587-8521.
