South Elgin falls to Wheaton North

Wheaton North 5, South Elgin 0: Wheaton North’s Lake Bacher (8-0) 3-hit the Storm in the championship game of the Class 4A Wheaton North regional.

Losing pitcher Joe Crivolio, who allowed just 5 hits and 1 earned run, had 2 hits for South Elgin (18-15).

“Their pitcher was very good,” said South Elgin coach Jim Kating, whose club reached a sectional final last year. “We had some opportunities to score we just weren’t able to get the hits.

“Last year making it to a sectional final and then a tough loss ... today, we got beat and we beat ourselves. We gave them some extra outs.”
