Agency on Aging board announced at annual meeting

The Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging held its annual meeting on April 12. The featured speaker was Ann Ford, executive director of the Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living. She discussed the growing collaboration between the aging and disability networks and their overlapping goals and programs.

Daniel E. Parsons of Gilberts was honored by the board as he completed his second term as chairman. Parsons has represented Kane County on the board since 2007, and has been chairman for the past two years. He also chairs the board’s executive committee and serves on the legislative committee. Parsons also was elected to another three-year term on the board.

Robert J. O’Connor of Aurora was re-elected to another full term on the board. O’Connor, a former board chairman, has been a member of the agency’s board since 1982. He also serves on the board’s agency operations committee and the brunch committee, which oversees the annual gourmet benefit for the Holiday Home Delivered Meals fund.

Jennifer Franck of Maple Park was elected to the board of directors as a new Kane County representative. She has been a member of the agency’s advisory council since 2010, and currently serves on the Senior Lifestyle Expo and brunch committees.

Larry Anderson of St. Charles was reappointed to the agency’s advisory council as a Kane County representative. He joined the council last year to complete an unexpired term and will now serve a three-year term. Anderson also serves on the board’s planning and grants review committees.

The Northern Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a nonprofit organization responsible for developing and coordinating a network of services for older people throughout an eight-county area in northeastern Illinois. The agency informs and advises public and private agencies and the general public of the needs of older people living in the area and acts as an advocate on their behalf. The agency serves DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.
