Town-by-town gun laws absurd
Town-by-town gun laws absurd
The Illinois Senate committee approved a plan for concealed carry. No wonder Illinois is in such trouble. The plan would allow municipalities of more than 25,000 residents to decide where carrying a gun was off-limits. This would mean that you would not know what the rules are as you drive through different communities.
But wait: Sen. Kwame Raoul, a Chicago Democrat (who would have guessed) came up with a compromise. Municipalities would have to inform permit holders of additional restrictions in other municipalities.
Will the state budget money to the municipalities for this? He also said that municipalities would have to post signs informing the public if concealed firearms were prohibited. What an opportunity for the criminals. Just drive to a community that has “no concealed firearms allowed,” stop at the liquor store or 7-11 and rob it. No one better be defending themselves, only the crook has the concealed gun. How would you like to live in a neighborhood with signs notifying the crooks that there are no guns here.
They could have just passed the same law as Florida and other states have, and honor other states carry permits. No taxes, no signs, no extra enforcement put on the police departments. Illinois can’t even do something that 49 other states have safely done, we have to screw up a simple bill.
