DEKALB — A Northern Illinois University administrator who went on leave after an FBI investigation will retire at the end of the month.
The Daily Chronicle in DeKalb reported Eddie Williams will retire May 31. He is the DeKalb school’s executive vice president for finance and chief of operations. He has been with the school for 43 years. Williams took a leave of absence on March 8 after the FBI started investigating police records concerning a housing development he owns. The university says Williams previously planned to retire this spring.
NIU spokesman Paul Palian says Steve Cunningham has been overseeing Williams’ duties and will continue as acting executive vice president for finance and facilities and chief of operations.
Williams started at NIU in 1970 as an assistant professor of mathematics.
