Barrington Hills Graduate Featured Speaker at College Graduation

This past weekend, Barrington Hills resident J.R. Davis was one of the featured speakers at his commencement ceremony at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. As senior class president, Davis urged his classmates to remember their time at Washington University and how their experiences prepared them for the challenges ahead.

“I wanted to emphasize how our shared experiences at Washington University have equipped the Class of 2013 with the potential to achieve great things,” Davis said. “In short, the themes I included in my speech highlighted the power of our collective talent and our capacity to meet the challenges facing our generation,” he added

Washington University is highly regarded for its commitment to excellence in learning. Its programs, administration, facilities, resources and activities combine to further its mission of teaching, research and service to society. “My experience at Washington University has been everything I could have ever wanted and more” Davis continued. “The quality of the institution and the learning experience has been impeccable,” he said.

In his speech, Davis reflected on the achievements and successes of his class over the past four years. “From students launching businesses, to engineering feats to artistic accomplishment, the class of 2013 has been nothing short of inspirational,” Davis reflected. “However, it is the people I have met and the relationships I have formed that strike me just as strongly if not more so.,” he continued.

“The upstanding character and sincerity of the Washington University family is something that is truly unmatched. I will carry this spirit, learned and grown at Washington University, for the rest of my life,” Davis concluded.

Davis, who majored in political science and history, will work in operations management and marketing development for a Chicago-based security company.
