Fire chief’s pension, sick pay outrageous
I would think every taxpayer who doesn’t work for the government would be outraged over the obscene $95,640 per year pension the ex-Carpentersville fire chief who retired under a cloud of suspicion is receiving. Plus he received another onetime payment of $28,967.24 for earned vacation and sick days.
How many people who work for private industry for 35 years receive a fraction of this amount when they retire? How many people who work 40 hours a week make about half of this amount? What’s the average salary of Carpentersville residents? The average U.S. household income is just a little over 50K per year. I doubt it’s more than average in Carpentersville.
Don’t the taxpayers deserve to know what their taxes are paying for? Think about this for a moment, the average male life expectancy in the U.S. is 76.2 years. Without the cost of living pension raises that government employees get, you folks in Carpentersville are possibly on the hook $2,218,848. And, he will probably find another government body to work for and receive more taxpayer dollars.
The taxpayers of Illinois should be outraged and screaming for the heads of politicians who don’t work their tails off to get control of this pension situation that is bankrupting the state.
