Hoffman Estates accepting applications for police camp

The Hoffman Estates Police Department is accepting applications for its fourth annual Junior Police Academy Camp. The free camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Monday, June 24, and Friday, June 28, at the Hoffman Estates police station, 411 W. Higgins Road. Some of the topics that will be covered include evidence collection, mock traffic stops, juvenile law, Internet safety and specialty units within the department. There are 25 spots available. The camp is free to any Hoffman Estates child in fifth, sixth or seventh grades. Applications are available at both the Police Department and online at www.hoffmanestates.org/police.
