Two charged in South Elgin heroin overdose death

Two people are charged with delivering a fatal dose of heroin to a 24-year-old South Elgin woman last month.

Andrea R. Nielsen, 23, with a last known address of the 900 block of Mark Street, South Elgin, and Nicholas C. Allen, 21, of the 300 block of North River Street in Batavia, were charged with drug-induced homicide in death of Abby L. Nordmeyer on April 5, according to court records.

Both face between six and 30 years in prison on the charge, which accuses them of delivering the drugs that resulted in Nordmeyer’s death.

Both were arrested by police Friday after warrants were issued this week for their arrest. Authorities said on April 5 they responded to the victim’s residence on the 300 block of Gilbert Street to find her unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead on scene.

Nielson’s bail has been set at $150,000, which means she must post $15,000 to be released while her case is pending. She is due in bond call today.

Allen was being held at the DuPage County jail on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor marijuana charges after an arrest in Bloomingdale on May 3, according to court records. He is next due in court in Wheaton on those charges on June 3.

His next court date in Kane County was not immediately available.
