Naperville announces summer Concerts in Your Park lineup

The Naperville Park District’s summer concert series, Concerts in Your Park, opens early next month with the first of six outdoor music performances.

Now in its 11th season, Concerts in Your Park brings free, family-friendly entertainment to neighborhood parks throughout the community. Chicago-based Band Called Catch launches the series with a concert of alternative folk-rock at 7 p.m. June 9 at River Run Park, 4136 Clearwater Drive.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and end by 8:30 p.m. and are on Sundays The audience is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Flavorwave frozen treats by Kona Ice will be for sale at each concert.

For the first time the locations of the concerts were selected by participants in an online contest called “Your Concert, Your Park, Your Choice.” Earlier this year, interested residents cast more than 650 votes for preferred locations and styles of music for the 2013 summer concert series.

Here’s the lineup for the Concerts in Your Park series:

Ÿ June 9: Band Called Catch at River Run Park, 4136 Clearwater Drive;

Ÿ June 23: Generation — The Sixties Experience at Arrowhead Park, 1611 Chippewa Drive;

Ÿ July 14: DuPage at Buttonwood Park, 803 Buttonwood Circle;

Ÿ July 21: BBI at Ashbury Park, 1740 Conan Doyle Road;

Ÿ July 28: Saturday June Band at Prairie Park, 416 S. Charles Ave.;

Ÿ Aug. 4: 28 Days at Columbia Commons, 1524 Oxford Lane.
