Des Plaines foundation offering three $1,500 scholarships

This summer, the Des Plaines Community Foundation will award three $1,500 scholarships through its annual Scholarship Program.

To qualify, students must be Des Plaines residents applying to or enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program at a college, university or vocational/technical institution during the fall semester of 2013. Student must have a 2.5 GPA or above.

Foundation employees, board members, scholarship committee members and their family members are not eligible.

Required paperwork includes a completed Scholarship Program Application and a statement of personal goals (100 words maximum). Also required is an essay on how you have participated in community service and or work to support you and your family, detailing how this commitment has prepared you for your future (500 words maximum). A copy of your most recent high school transcript is also required.

The Des Plaines Community Foundation is an all volunteer, nonprofit 501(c3) organization that brings Des Plaines resources together to afford a better quality of life for those who live and work in the community. For every $1 received as a donation, $12 of services are provided to residents.
