Swedish Days’ festival deadlines draw near

There are some upcoming May deadlines for events at the 64th annual Swedish Days, Geneva’s Midsommar Festival slated for June 18-23.

Ÿ Your organization and/or business should be represented in the 64th Swedish Days Festival parade on Sunday, June 23. Deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 15. There is no application fee. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be issued a lineup number. This parade draws tens of thousands from all over the state and beyond.

Ÿ The deadline for the Granquist Music Competition is Monday, May 20 for mail-in entries and Friday, May 24 for online entries. The Granquist Music Competition, a tradition started by founder Herb Granquist, continues on as the Granquist family are the new coordinators for this year. This event promotes music performance, competition and education for serious students of music. Students are grouped by instrument, age and years of instruction. A first-, second- and third-place is awarded in each class. Solos, duets and ensembles are all encouraged to register. There are two levels of competition — Olympic and Concert. The 43rd annual Music Competition will be on Saturday, June 22.
