Don’t revel in rival’s misfortunes

The writer of a Fence Post letter on April 21 seems inordinately elated when the Cubs play poorly. He’s the kind of “fan” who gives all sports lovers a bad name. A true fan finds joy in winning yet even in losing appreciates the experience of game. But to revel in the misfortunes of the opposition is wholly unsportsmanlike. Better to cheer each other on (as I did for the Sox in ’05), shake hands and stop gloating. Take it from a genuine Cubs fan.
