Lombard Summer Voluntary Code Compliance Program To Focus on Residential Properties

LOMBARD, Illinois—The Village of Lombard's voluntary code compliance program will focus on inspections in the residential community including single family homes, duplexes, and townhomes this year.

The door-to-door inspectors will see whether properties meet ordinances relating to common issues. Homes visited will receive a “door hanger” courtesy notice that either thanks residents who are in compliance or advises homeowners of any small problems found by the inspector. Small problems are noted on the door hanger and the homeowners are asked to voluntarily resolve them to “keep Lombard looking its best”. The checklist includes grass and weeds more than eight inches in height, parking on the grass, items obstructing the sidewalk or parkway, litter, inactive vehicles (flat tires/expired plates), and commercial vehicles with “B” plates or higher. This voluntary program has not been conducted since 2007 and this year's program is anticipated to begin the week of May 27.

The voluntary compliance inspections are not a result of complaints, but a general survey of residential properties in Lombard. The inspections will be done from the public sidewalk and properties will be inspected district by district. Questions regarding the

voluntary compliance program may be addressed by calling Community Development at (630) 620-5758.
