Kids to race Saturday in Tot Trot
Submitted by Prairie Valley Family YMCA
Last call for registration for the second annual Tot Trot, sponsored by the Prairie Valley Family YMCA to be held Saturday, May 11, at Taylor Family Y branch, 50 N. McLean Blvd. in Elgin. Separate races will be run for children ages 2 and younger and ages 3 and 4 starting at 10 a.m.
Aside from fun, running is easy, exhilarating and inexpensive. It's also an exciting way for kids to be and stay active.
“We're hoping our Tot Trot Fun Runs this Saturday will give even the youngest children an opportunity to run, have fun and win a medal for mom,” said Kay Catlin, marketing and PR director for the Prairie Valley YMCA.
Winners will receive trophies and second- and third-place finishers in each race will get silver and bronze medals, respectively. All other racers will receive “Super Star” medals and ribbons just for participating.
“Our goal is to replicate the experience usually afforded adults — with drinks and other little treats at the end of the race,” Catlin said.
Preregistration can be completed online or in person at the Taylor Y. The cost is $5 per registered racer. Day-of registrations must be completed at least 15 minutes before the start of each race (10 a.m. race start for kids 2 and under, 10:30 a.m. for 3-year-olds, 11 a.m. for 4-year-olds).
