Bartlett recognizing veterans May 31

The Bartlett Volunteer Fire Association is sponsoring its 5th Annual Veterans Memorial Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Bartlett Fire Barn, 218 S. Main St., Bartlett.

This event is a way to remember fallen veterans and also say thank you to Bartlett veterans. Wayne Messmer will sing the national anthem.

The evening's presentation will be made by Honor Flight Chicago, which was founded to recognize veterans — most specifically World War II veterans — with a day of honor, remembrance and celebration from a proud and grateful nation.

Members of Bartlett VFW Post 11018 and American Legion Post 1212 are invited each year as guests of the BVFA. This year we are happy to extend an invitation to Bartlett veterans who are not members of these veteran organizations.

A limited number of seats are available and registration is required. To register, call (630) 830-4018 or send an email to bucaror@bartlettvolunteerfiredept.com. Availability is based on a first-requested basis.

The Bartlett Volunteer Fire Association has been meeting the needs of the community for more than 110 years — first as a fire department assisting Bartlett residents during an emergency and more recently as a charitable and civic organization. For information, contact Bob Bucaro at (630) 830-4018.
