Native plant sale Saturday in Elgin

Northern Kane County Wild Ones will hold its native plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Hawthorne Hill Nature Center, 28 Brookside Drive, off Foothill Road and Route 20 on Elgin’s west side.
Meet Conservation@Home expert Jim Kleinwachter and find out about native plants, invasive species and how to improve habitats for birds and butterflies in the area. Butterfly expert Charlene Breitlow will share her love for and knowledge about the Monarch butterfly and tell you how to attract them with milkweed.
The sale will feature more than 30 species of local ecotype Natural Garden Natives for a three-season flower garden and to attract more butterflies and birds, plus save money, energy and water.
A Wild Ones exclusive, choose from ready-to-plant collections for a sun, shade or rain garden, created by local award-winning garden designer, native plants expert and renowned author, Patricia Hill.
“Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes: promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities. Wild Ones is a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization.
