The NRA is not your enemy

This is in regard to the “Our View” on April 22 about concealed carry in Illinois. You praise the anti-Constitutional Illinois legislature and vilify the NRA.

The NRA is a organization of close to five million members. Some are your readers. They work to protect our Second Amendment rights. Part of the Bill of Rights. Part of the U.S. Constitution. They are not the enemy.

Look up some stats. How many felonies are committed by active members of the NRA? How many active members of the NRA have been convicted of a felony?

How many concealed carry permit holders have been convicted of a felony? How many felony’s are committed by a concealed carry permit holder?

How much has the crime rate in areas that allow concealed carry gone down?

Now how many members of the Illinois legislature — the people you like — been convicted of a felony?

Concealed carry permit holders and active members of the NRA aren’t the ones you need to worry about.
