ComEd, Exelon Volunteers Join Illinois Math & Science Academy Students for Tree Planting at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve

Employee volunteers from ComEd and its parent company Exelon worked alongside students from Aurora-based Illinois Math & Science Academy on Saturday, April 20, planting oak trees as part of Arbor Day festivities with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. The tree planting took place at the Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve, located in Elgin.

Arbor Day officially takes place on Friday, April 26, and was created in 1872 for tree planting and for recognizing the importance of trees. The volunteer activity at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve is an effort to create woodland savannas in various preserves across Kane County.

The volunteer event is part of Exelon's company-wide observance of National Volunteer Week (April 21-27), an annual nationwide celebration of people working to improve their communities through service.
