Roads closed in Lincolnshire; river overflowing berm

A pair of streets in Lincolnshire were closed Thursday because of flooding, and more closures could follow, officials announced.

Londonderry Lane and Lincolnshire Drive were shut down because of rising water.

Additionally, village public works crews had discovered the Des Plaines River was overflowing a protective berm in some areas. The river rose rapidly overnight because of local heavy rain and it’s expected to rise to major flood stage levels by Thursday evening.

Moderate or major flood levels are likely to persist through the weekend in the village, officials said.

Public works crews are pumping water off Lincolnshire Drive and Londonderry Lane to reduce flooding.

Volunteer efforts will begin at noon today. To volunteer, call (847) 883-8600.
