The Grove United Girls U9 Select soccer team was named the Lake Barrington Field House Athlete of the Month winner for March.

The award honors one Field House Athlete each month for excellence in academics or athletics or community service.

The Grove United Girls U9 Select Team was selected based upon its achievements in the 2012-13 Youth Winter Indoor Soccer League. The team not only played in the U9 Girls Division but also the Boys U9 Division to improve their skills and competition levels and to prepare for the outdoor season. They won the Girls Division of the Field House Scoring Challenge and bested the Boys Division while allowing the least number of goals.

As a result of winning the Field House Challenge, the Grove United U9 Girls Select Team will be attending the June 2 Chicago Fire soccer game vs D.C. United. The Grove United Girls U9 Select Team with players from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Lake Zurich, Long Grove and Round Lake handily won the 2012-13 Lake Barrington Field House Winter Indoor League (undefeated), St Patrick’s Day and St. Valentine’s Day Tournaments (both undefeated) this year. This outstanding team is part of the Grove United Soccer Association.
