If it says Chicago, it should be made here

Recently we needed a cutlery set. So, after looking around I decided on Chicago Cutlery. A good hometown company, right? Wrong, a company formerly of Chicago, bought by a New York holding company and made in China.

Looking at other companies with the name Chicago, I found the same to be true. All made in China.

I believe if a company wants to sell its product here, it should be built here. Names like Coleman (camping), Oneida (silverware), Schwinn (bicycles) and more should be made to say Coleman, Oneida and Schwinn of China.

So when the owner of a former copy machine company of Itasca complains the Chinese are taking his business, I say ask your former employees how it feels to lose their income. I think more companies need this lesson.

Stay home, and if you say Chicago, make it in Chicago. Please, check and buy “Made in the USA.” The job you save could be your own.
