Submitted by Mike Gallo

The LASC (Lindenhurst) Twisters recently completed a very successful indoor soccer season. They had three teams playing in two separate leagues.

The Twisters Gold squad played in the U13/14 White division in Barrington. The girls finished undefeated with a mark of 6-0-4, which was good enough to take the division championship.

Goalkeeper Monica Wilhelm held opponents to 0.4 goals per game. Ava Speer led the team in goals with 7, while Riley Matchett and Anna Engel contributed with 3 each.

Other members of the squad included Karly Monaco, Lindsay Smith, Rosie O’Malley, Simran Bhalla, MaKenna Maxson, Alondra Medina, Callista Hass and Hannah Gallo.

The Twisters also had two teams competing in the U12/13 division in Round Lake.

The Twisters Green squad ran the table and finished the season with the championship and a 10-0 record. Molly Bakrins tended goal and allowed 1.3 goals per game.

On offense, Maddie Wilkinson found the back of the net 13 times to lead the team, while Olivia Hall scored 10 goals and Jessica Weinberg added 7.

Other members of the team included Jensen Bernard, Elizabeth Weinberg, Emily Walowski, Molly Finnegan, Gillian Vettese, Riley Beggs and Karly Monaco.

The Twisters Red squad finished in second place in the same division, posting a record of 6-4. However, three of those losses came against the Green squad.

The goalkeeping tandem of Melissa Pomorin and Maddie Fahey combined to allow just 2.1 goals per game. Leading scorers for the team were Danielle Brose with 8, Molly Monson with 5 and Daniella Adams and Alyssa Kueppers chipped in with 4 apiece.

Other contributors were: Hannah Gallo, Danielle Bay, Lauren Allen, Lindsey Kumpula, Callista Hass, Riley Matchett and Alyssa Bombicino.

The three Twister teams combined for a record of 19-1-4 when playing against opposing clubs. The girls will begin the outdoor season the weekend of April 13.
