MILWAUKEE — A scrap recycling company manager is accused of embezzling more than $1 million from her Milwaukee employer.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Jacqueline Fox authorized direct deposits in the names of seven former employees to bank accounts that she controlled at United Milwaukee Scrap.

The Journal Sentinel says Fox is charged with six counts of theft by fraud, one count for every year she’s accused of embezzling. A criminal complaint says Fox told investigators the thefts only started in 2010 and that she used the money to support her paralyzed mother and pay for her daughter’s tuition.

The company declined to comment on the case.
