Hoffman Estates accepting nominations for disabled citizens award

The Village of Hoffman Estates Commission for Disabled Citizens is seeking nominations for the annual Barb Basl Community Recognition Award. The award will recognize an outstanding resident, employee or student in Hoffman Estates. Nominees must have worked to overcome challenges associated with their physical, mental and/or cognitive disability to achieve excellence through academia, community involvement or extracurricular activities. To nominate an individual, forward a letter of support that highlights the aforementioned qualities of the individual. Letters should be less than 500 words. Entries can be sent to Dr. Algean Garner c/o Health and Human Services, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169, or via email to algean.garner@hoffmanestates.org. Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15. The award ceremony will take place during the Monday, June 3, village board meeting. For information, call (847) 781-2606.
