Downtown Elgin Madness Championship Round Begins

Four rounds in the books, nearly 8,000 votes cast, 30 “teams” sent packing and after all the dust has cleared only two Downtown Madness eateries remain standing in the battle for Elgin epicurean supremacy.

The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) of Elgin's Downtown Madness Championship Round Match-Up features 2012 defending champion Danny's Pizza on Douglas, 231 Douglas Avenue, and their Sausage Pizza representing Downtown Elgin versus Paul's Family Restaurant, 1300 Lawrence Avenue, and their Paninis representing “Crosstown” Elgin.

This is a rematch of last year's Downtown Madness National Semifinal when Danny's Pizza competed in the “Crosstown” bracket in their former location at 302 S. McLean Blvd before opening in their current location in downtown Elgin in October 2012.

Championship Round Voting begins Friday, April 5 at 5pm and concludes Monday, April 8 at Noon with two ways to vote:

1. VOTE by Choosing the Champion at www.DowntownElgin.com

2. VOTE AGAIN by “liking” the DNA Facebook Page (Facebook.com/DowntownElgin) then “liking” either the Danny's Pizza or Paul's “YOU CHOOSE THE CHAMPION” photo on Facebook

The Championship Round online voting form and Facebook “YOU CHOOSE THE CHAMPION” photos will be posted on April 5 at 5pm.

Votes from the online voting form and “likes” from the Facebook photo “like” contest will be combined.

The winner will be awarded the 2013 Downtown Madness Championship Trophy on Monday, April 8 at Danny's Pizza on Douglas, 231 Douglas Avenue, beginning with the DNA and Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's Madness #TasteNTweet at 4:30pm followed by the trophy presentation at 6pm.
