Winning pitcher Nolan Gavin allowed 3 hits and 1 unearned run in 6 innings, and Jason Lemonidis pitched a hitless seventh inning for the Pirates.

Jarrod Juskiewicz, William Stewart and Matt Hogan each had 2 hits for Palatine.

Buffalo Grove 5, Maine West 4: The host Bison prevailed in nonconference play as Josh Guertler and Billy Chandler doubled. Adam Kowalski earned the victory, and Ryan Lowe suffered the loss.

Wheaton North 1, Elk Grove 0: The visiting Falcons scored the game’s only run in the seventh inning to claim a nonconference victory as David Camacho suffered the defeat.
