Village of Lombard To Auction Police Car That Brought Mcilroy to Ryder Cup

The Village of Lombard is auctioning the unmarked Lombard police car that was used to rush Mcilroy on the final day of the Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club. The 2005 Ford Crown Vic is in good running condition with 89,900 miles.

Mcilroy, who was staying at the Lombard Westin Yorktown Center, mistook his tee time by an hour and when he realized the error, contacted the Lombard Police to help get him to Medinah in time. Lombard Deputy Chief Pat Rollins rushed Mcilroy to the golf course with minutes to spare and the Europeans went on to win the tournament, largely due to Mcilroy's play.

The Village of Lombard is offering this opportunity for a lucky golf or sports enthusiast to own a piece of sports history, as well as a fine automobile. The vehicle will be sold at auction on Ebay until April 8. To view the auction item online, visit the Village of Lombard website, www.villageoflombard.org, “Quick Links”/Mcilroy Vehicle at Auction.
