Ouchies Bandages chooses Des Plaines teen’s design to feature in new bandage line

Amber Moosvi of Des Plaines, has been selected as a winner of the “Ouchies for Others” Pediatric Cancer Bandage Art Contest.

As a winner, Moosvi will have the opportunity to see her original design made into an Ouchies bandage, which will be available nationwide beginning this summer.

Moosvi is one of five people whose bandage designs will be featured in a new line of Ouchies bandages called “Fight Against Pediatric Cancer” — with profits from sales of these unique bandages going to three children’s cancer organizations.

In addition to the exciting chance for her to see her design transformed into a product to be carried in retail stores across the country, Moosvi will also receive a special Ouchies prize basket.

Moosvi, 17, is an ambassador for Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. After undergoing brain surgery, Moosvi can no longer read, but can write and do artwork. Moosvi helps support children battling cancer by spreading awareness through organizations like Bear Necessities, the Ouchies bandage art contest, and her Facebook Page, Team Amber, where she has over 9,000 likes.

Moosvi’s winning entry is titled “Broken Bear.” The design features a Teddy Bear with a bandage and a feel-better-soon balloon representing that she’s not completely better but hopes to be soon. The stars on the bandage design represent all of the people who support Amber in her battle with brain cancer.

“I couldn’t fit everyone because I have so many people supporting me and I appreciate them so much,” she said.

The “Ouchies for Others” program gives 100 percent of profits from the sale of this unique line of bandages to various nonprofit organizations. All profits from the sale of the “Fight Against Pediatric Cancer” bandages will benefit three national pediatric cancer organizations: The Childhood Leukemia Foundation, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and the American Childhood Cancer Organization.
