Elmhurst former associate pastor charged with sex crime

A former associate pastor at an Elmhurst church has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and abuse.

Darin L. Evans, 41, of the 2400 block of Short Street in Dover, Ohio, turned himself in to Elmhurst police Monday. He’s charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Evans is the former associate pastor of West Suburban Community Church, 825 Van Auken.

Elmhurst police say the abuse took place between 2004 and 2006 and they were notified in February 2013.

Evans will appear in a DuPage County bond court Tuesday morning.
