Polar plunge in Lake Bluff for a good cause

The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge at Sunrise Beach in Lake Bluff Saturday attracted more than 200 people and raised money for Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

In 2012, more than $1.5 million was raised by more than 6,290 plungers at different Illinois events. In 14 years, $7.5 million has been raised by more than 28,300 plungers.

All plungers are required to collect a minimum of $75 in donations.

Each participant receives an official Polar Plunge sweatshirt.
