Immanuel Lutheran Church Presents Cotton Patch Gospel on March 3

Imagine the story of Jesus told from the perspective of the mid-20th century American South. This two-person adaptation of Cotton Patch Gospel, performed by John and Beth Chase, combines power, depth and humor in a remarkable telling of the Gospel narrative with a Southern spin.

Cotton Patch Gospel, based on author Clarence Jordan’s writings and adaptations of the Gospels, will be performed at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Palatine. Cotton Patch Gospel is part of the church’s monthly Music to Move Our Next Generation benefit concert series.

A reception will follow the concert, providing guests with an opportunity to meet the performers.

The Music to Move Our Next Generation concerts are free and open to the public. All proceeds from a freewill offering will be used for the restoration and renewal of the church’s impressive 1,800-pipe Wicks organ.

Immanuel Lutheran Church & School is located at 200 North Plum Grove Road (at Wood Street) in downtown Palatine, just two blocks east of the Palatine Metra Train Station.
