Caught by traffic camera in EGV
A letter to the Elk Grove Village photo enforcement program: “We were driving home to central Illinois from the Quality Inn on Busse Road in Elk Grove Village after a Park and Stay during our vacation trip.
Due to jet lag, we got up at 3:30 a.m. and left the hotel to get on I-90 to Savoy, IL.
We turned right onto Higgins Road after a red light and found Arlington Heights Road where we wanted to make a right turn and travel to I-90.
I did stop at the red light on Higgins Road and Arlington Heights Road (1.7 seconds into a red light), looked south and west to see if there was any traffic that would impede my right turn. There wasn’t any sign that said no right turn, so I turned north to find I-90.
I would like for you to rescind this violation on the basis that I did stop, observe traffic and check the signs posted and proceed with caution since it was early morning and dark.”
I sent this letter to the Photo Enforcement Program and was found liable.
Please don’t allow a “Red Light money pit” program to continue in Elk Grove Village. This will discourage visitors from going to your village!
