YWCA to host 35th Annual Women of Achievement Dinner on May 31

YWCA Lake County hosts its hallmark event, the 35th Annual Women of Achievement Dinner, on Friday, May 31, at the Hyatt Deerfield, 1750 Lake-Cook Road, Deerfield.

The event runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and the cost is $100.

This year’s keynote speaker, Lilly Ledbetter, is nationally known for her fight for equal rights.

Her book, “Grace and Grit” takes you through her fight for equal rights in the workplace, and how her determination became a victory for the nation. Ledbetter vs. Good Year Rubber & Tire Company, resulted in the passing of the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, a federal statute that was the first bill signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2009.

“Lilly Ledbetter brings an awe inspiring message to our audience,” said Janice Bennett, executive director of the YWCA Lake County. “We are very excited to have Ms. Ledbetter as our keynote speaker for our 35th Annual Women of Achievement”.
