Bartlett reading program spans generations

On Saturday, Feb. 9, participants in the program, “Pages Across the Ages,” met at the Clare Oaks retirement community for a Valentine’s Social. The program, an intergenerational reading and writing exchange run through the Bartlett Public Library, is celebrating its one-year mark.

In this time, 65 children and adults have participated, reading children’s literature and writing to each other about it. This is the third social for this group. Some partners reunited and others met for the first time.

The day was full of activities such as card games “Go Read” (an off take of “Go Fish”) and “Making Memories” (“Memory”) played with cards with pictures of the partners. Everyone also made a Valentine’s mailbox that will hold some of their future letters to each other.
