Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?The Library is looking to expand their facility in the not to distant future. With my training in Design and Architecture I would like to help in the planning and developement processes. If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what special contributions you could make.Candidate did not respond.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?Yes, Since 1990 I believe. Not to often.Space is usually an issue at libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.I don't have enough information at this time to make that judgement. That's part of the reason I would like to be a trustee! What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change? There seems to be more home based businesses and people working from home in this economy. The libarary offers them a place to help them with their business. The library has the resources, space and equipment that these home based businesses don't have access to or the space to accomodate. Many students use these resources as well to complete school projects. This is also a place where they can meet to do group projects. I don't believe we will ever do away with paper books. People still like to crack open the book to do their reading. The library of the future will probably have to be a lot more flexible with the way space is used. They will need more meeting rooms and more computers to accomodate all the users. Smart phones are nice but you can't beat working on a large monitor when you are doing actual research.
