I listen to all information and make the decision that is best for the community as a whole.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.People are aware that most communities have gangs and trouble makers, our neighborhood has been more quiet than in years past. I would agree our crime rate has gone down however it is still a concern. We have a great new police chief, working with the officers to be as effective as possible keeping their presence known.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?These are tight times and we have kept our operating budget at the 2008 level reducing every year along the way. Now in 2013' 5 years down the road, we have little if any room left to trim. Staffing is at its lowest level while we are trying to keep services at an equitable level. This is budget season so we will be looking at the different departments requests, however the area we are committed to is the EAB problem. If we do not get a handle on it the problem will only continue to get worse.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Working with the Assistant Village Manager and the Business Development Commission, we would like to get the word out how the development process has improved. We want it known that we are business friendly. Our goal is to develop marketing material with testimonials from owners of new and redeveloped properties. The better we market our community with satisfied businesses the more we will be able to attract diversifying the tax base.
