Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Palatine's sales tax is competitive with its Cook County neighbors. While I am sure we lose some sales to Lake County, given the mix of our sales tax generators, it is relatively minimal. Sales tax revenue is a primary component of the Village's revenue stream and is necessary in paying for services.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Concern over gang activity is always number one on everyone's list in Chicago and in every suburb. It is paramount that residents in all parts of the Village feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. This is an ongoing battle and Palatine must always be committed to keeping the gang concern from becoming a problem. We are fortunate to have dedicated men and women who do just that every day.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The Village reduced its levy for the second year in a row. Public safety is always the number one priority and the current budget reflects such. Any further reductions in the budget would negatively impact delivery of core services. I support the budget as passed. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Candidate did not respond.
