I have served on the Village's plan commission, served as a Trustee and was appointed to the village board in January of this year. I also have a long history in village government having served on the ZBA/plan commission in Wauconda for over 10 years.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I feel the sales tax rate in Volo is just right.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.I think that crime is a concern in all the villages in our area. Volo contracts with the Lake County Sheriffs Dept and to date I feel they are doing an excellent job and if the quality of their services continues, and I don't see why it shouldn't, there are no major concerns to be addressed.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Volo's financial condition is strong and the board has always worked to maintain a budget that serves the present needs of the village while planning for the future. I plan on working hard to maintain that practice. That being said I feel our budget is in good balance.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Market the village and let commercial, industrial, as well as residential developers know what Volo has to offer. Encouraging balance growth between the three.
