5 churches unite for joint Ash Wednesday services

Palatine/Arlington Heights, Illinois – February 13th – Five local churches in the Northwest suburbs are coming together to mark the Lenten season with shared services featuring prayer, music, and fellowship.

The five parishes participating are: Christian Church Disciples of Christ (Arlington Heights); Congregational United Church of Christ (Arlington Heights); Church of the Incarnation United Methodist Church (Arlington Heights); St. John United Church of Christ (Arlington Heights); and St. Paul United Church of Christ (Palatine).

The shared Lenten worship will begin with an Ash Wednesday service on February 13 at 9:00 a.m. Hosted by the St. John United Church of Christ (308 N. Evergreen, Arlington Heights), this service will include communion, organ music, and breakfast. For more information or to reserve a spot, please call (847) 255-6687.

St. Paul United Church of Christ (144 E. Palatine Rd., Palatine) will further honor Ash Wednesday by hosting evening worship and communion at 7:30 p.m. on February 13. Choir members representing all five churches will celebrate with song at this service.

This multi-church journey of faith will continue throughout the Lenten season. Shared worship services commemorating Maundy Thursday (March 28), Good Friday (March 29) and Easter Day (March 31) are planned. Contact Reverend Rex Piercy (847-392-6650) for details.
