Waukegan’s Springs leaves NIU basketball

Freshman guard Akeem Springs of Waukegan Township High School has left the Northern Illinois men’s basketball program, head coach Mark Montgomery announced Tuesday.

“Akeem Springs has left the Northern Illinois basketball team for personal and family reasons,” said Montgomery. “We wish Akeem all the best in the future.”

Springs appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 7.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest.
