Cambridge Lakes opens Cascade model home

New Cascade home offers innovative use of space

The new Cascade design with several innovative options takes center stage at Cambridge Lakes, a popular lifestyle community in Pingree Grove with all the activities and amenities of resort-style living.

The community, located on Higgins Road east of Route 47, offers residents a 30,000-square-foot rec center along with 360 acres of open space including wooded park areas, natural conservation areas, 14 lakes and miles of walking and biking paths.

The Cascade model home is different in that it offers flexible-use space in the main floor living area, according to Cambridge Lakes builder DR Horton.

“This is a fantastic plan for several reasons,” said Chris Naatz, vice president of sales and marketing for DR Horton. “The flex space off the foyer adapts to the way homeowners live. It could be a dining room, den, music room — and it has lots of windows that let in the light.”

In the model home, the flex space serves as a family command center with an Internet cafe across the countertop, bookcase and a large counter-height table for using laptops and iPads, working on school projects or poring over homework.

“We also show an owners' entry off the garage with a key drop and plenty of storage,” Naatz said. “The large breakfast area, including the island, can accommodate up to 12 people. And upstairs in the master bath, we feature an optional serenity shower, a large oversized shower that has been received incredibly well.”

The Cascade design is priced from $242,900 and features 2,680 square feet, three to four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths and a three-car tandem garage.

With interior design by Laura O'Connor Design, this decorated model features a casual transitional décor with citrus orange and dark blue against a tan background. Dark hand-scraped hardwood flooring covers the main level while several bench seats and nooks abound throughout the home.

A sectional and two leather chairs furnish the open living space, where a fireplace with mantle and plasma TV invites prospective buyers. A built-in cabinet for audio/visual components keeps the room organized.

The kitchen with white furniture-quality cabinets, stainless steel appliances and granite counters blends nicely with the living area. The working island with sink faces outward for ease of communication. And lots of windows in the breakfast area offer scenic views for morning coffee.

Upstairs in the master suite, “I like my cream and sugar with a touch of coffee” sign sits in an enclave with a coffee bar and cabinets. The suite includes luxurious bedding, plasma TV and two walk-in closets.

The bath features an optional oversized serenity shower for those who don't want a separate tub and smaller shower, but rather a large luxury shower with soothing sprays. Dual sinks, private commode and linen closet complete the master bath.

Two secondary bedrooms feature a guest room and a sport-themed boy's room complete with a football player painted on the wall.

An artsy room with gray and orange walls shows a day bed and display of blue ribbon awards. This room is for the aspiring artist that belongs to the middle school art club.

A three-car tandem garage offers an optional staircase from the garage to the basement, which is an unusual feature.

Another great feature is the owners' entry through the garage and outside door — a drop-everything mudroom with storage, seating and key drop area. The entry is tucked away and out of view.

Cascade is one of seven designs in the Prairie Series of single-family homes. The community also features other single-family homes, townhouses and duplexes.
