Audition for Bowen Park Theatre Company in Waukegan

Bowen Park Theatre Company has announced open auditions for “Killers.”

Auditions will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28. The director for the Bowen Park Theatre Company’s production of John Olive’s “Killers” is Shawn Fitzgerald who last directed the Bowen Park Theatre production of “Death of a Salesman” in the fall of 2010.

Performances for “Killers” will take place April 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20 at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts’ Schornick Theatre, 39 Jack Benny Drive-Bowen Park, Waukegan. All performances will be at 8 p.m. with the exception of the Sunday matinee April 14 at 3 p.m.

This is a brilliant theatrical excursion into the nightmarish world of a seedy rooming house, and the visiting writer who is drawn into the brutish lives of its denizens. Initially produced by Chicago’s renowned Steppenwolf Theatre and was originally commissioned by the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Ky.

The production requires one female in her 30s and four males ranging from 20 to 60-plus years of age. Auditions will be an open call with cold readings from the script.

Those interested in auditioning may call to check availability, at (847) 360-4740, and actors must bring a headshot and resume to the audition. Bowen Park Theatre Company is a professional, non-equity company that was established in 1987.

The Illinois Arts Council, a state of Illinois agency, partially supports the Jack Benny Center for the Arts through a multidisciplinary grant. This play is presented through special permission and rights through Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
